Joshimath

Tehsil Joshimath, District Chamoli, Uttarakhand, Bharat.

Joshimath ( जोशीमठ ). This place is the winter headquarters of Badrinath and Kedarnath Temple Commitee and the seat of Jagatguru Shankaracharya of Joythirmath. The ancient Kalpavariksha from where Sri Sankara Bhagvatpada had the vision of the Joyti of Badrinath and the place of Laxmi Narashima are here. The Narshimha Badri is the ancient temple where the idol which Shri Sankara prayed and the shankara Gaddi of Jagatguru are kept here for the winters. Bhavishya Badri and tapovan are places of interest for pilgrims. Auli the famous hill resort and the skiing place are also situated near Joshimath.
